Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Director with a strong focus on corporate and consumer storytelling and media relations to join our talented team. If you are a passionate communicator with a proven track record of success, we encourage you to apply.

About the Role:

As an Account Director at AKA Asia, you will play a pivotal role in leading client accounts, developing and executing strategic communications plans, and building strong relationships with media and key stakeholders. You will be responsible for crafting compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences, securing high-impact media coverage, and providing strategic counsel to clients across diverse industries. This role requires a deep understanding of the media landscape, excellent writing and communication skills, and a passion for storytelling. You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with our in-house design and production teams to bring client campaigns to life across multiple channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Counsel: Provide strategic communications counsel to clients, understanding their business objectives and developing tailored communication strategies to achieve their goals.
  • Storytelling & Content Development: Develop compelling narratives and content across various platforms, including press releases, media kits, website content, social media posts, and thought leadership pieces. Focus on crafting stories that resonate with both corporate and consumer audiences. Collaborate with the creative team to develop integrated campaigns.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and other media contacts. Proactively pitch stories, secure media coverage, and manage media inquiries. Demonstrate a strong understanding of different media outlets and their audiences.
  • Client Management: Lead client accounts, managing day-to-day communication, providing regular updates, and ensuring client satisfaction. Develop and manage project budgets and timelines.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior team members, providing support and development opportunities. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • New Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of the agency. Participate in proposal development and presentations.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, media landscape changes, and competitor activities. Conduct research to inform communication strategies and identify opportunities for clients.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Track and measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns, providing regular reports and analysis to clients. Use data to refine strategies and demonstrate ROI.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in communications, with a strong focus on corporate and consumer storytelling and media relations.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication campaigns.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong media relations skills and established relationships with journalists.
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape and digital communication channels.
  • Experience managing client relationships and budgets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
