Who We Are

Ask & Embla is a rapidly growing alternative body jewelry brand based in Singapore with a collective following of more than 600,000 across our social media channels. As an e-commerce brand, we ship internationally to a diverse range of customers and we are proud to be one of the leading brands worldwide in the alternative jewelry space. At Ask & Embla, we’re passionate about creating a company that brings out the best in everyone and where individuals love to work and grow as a team. That means constantly learning and building new things, being flexible about how and where we work, and empowering each other to do the proudest work of our lives. Ask & Embla, led by an ex-Googler and ex-Amazonian, has dozens of employees across multiple countries. We are building the foundation to expand several business verticals beyond e-commerce, while supporting existing business functions for fulfilling thousands of orders each month. At Ask & Embla we learn and build fast together, sharing the purpose and passion of creating not just beautiful, expressive and sustainably-made jewelry, but a community that celebrates the misfits, the believers, the round pegs in square holes and everyone in between. Everyone deserves to own who they are; we create the jewelry so they can do it with pride.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Web Designer to lead the visual and user experience (UX) redesign for the Ask & Embla e-commerce website. This role is focused entirely on the design phase – creating modern, responsive, and high-fidelity mockups – and does not involve any coding or development.

The scope of work will be defined collaboratively on a monthly basis, allowing us to adapt quickly to ensure alignment with business priorities. If you thrive in an iterative, team-oriented environment, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

The designer will work iteratively with our internal team and will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Review and utilize the provided sitemap and information architecture to ensure logical content flow.
  • Produce low-fidelity, grayscale wireframes for core page types (up to 3 pages) to establish hierarchy and layout.
  • Create full high-fidelity visual mockups for up to 5 unique page templates (e.g., Homepage, About Us, Product Page, Blog, Contact Form).
  • Ensure all mockups include dedicated Desktop and Mobile views.
  • Define and document a modular Style Guide/Design System within the design file, including typography, color palettes, component states (buttons, forms, etc.).
  • Incorporate feedback through two (2) maximum rounds of collective revisions.
  • Organize and deliver final, ready-for-development design files and exported assets (icons, graphics).
  • Actively participate in regular alignment meetings with the team to prioritize tasks and jointly adjust scope of work for the upcoming monthly cycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Please note that applications without a portfolio will not be entertained.
  • Proven professional experience in web design, specifically focused on UX and visual design for marketing or corporate websites.
  • Expert proficiency with modern design tools, preferably Figma.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing successful, responsive website designs.
  • Deep understanding of User Experience (UX) principles, accessibility best practices, and mobile-first design.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate design decisions clearly to non-design stakeholders.

Project Exclusions (What We Do Not Require)
This role is strictly design-focused. Candidates are not expected to perform any of the following:

  • Writing or editing website copy.
  • Front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Back-end development or CMS integration.
  • Deep-dive SEO research or implementation.
