This role demands creativity, strong project management skills, and the ability to execute high-quality programmes on the ground. The Programme Curator will work closely with artists, sponsor and partners to bring DECK’s vision to life while managing the logistics and execution of each project.

This role demands creativity, strong project management skills, and the ability to execute high-quality programmes on the ground. The Programme Curator will work closely with artists, sponsor and partners to bring DECK’s vision to life while managing the logistics and execution of each project. The position offers a clear career development trajectory towards a Senior role and eventually a Director position within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Development & Ideation:
Conceptualise and develop new art programmes, exhibitions, residencies, workshops, and community projects that align with DECK’s core mission and strategic vision.
Collaborate with artists, curators, and collaborators to generate innovative programme ideas that reflect both local and global artistic perspectives.
Contribute to DECK’s long-term artistic vision by identifying trends, opportunities, and emerging talent within the art world.
Project Management & Execution:
Lead the planning and execution of programmes, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
Coordinate with internal teams (communications, partnerships, operations) and external partners (artists, curators, sponsors) to bring each programme to life.
Oversee all logistical aspects, including venue arrangements, artist coordination, technical requirements, and event production.
Creative Direction & Quality Assurance:
Provide creative direction in the execution of DECK’s programmes, ensuring high-quality artistic outcomes and an engaging experience for audiences.
Work closely with the curatorial and production teams to oversee design, layout, and technical aspects of exhibitions and events.
Ensure that each programme is executed to the highest standards, maintaining DECK’s reputation for excellence in the arts.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Foster and maintain strong relationships with artists, curators, partners, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
Work closely with the partnerships team to identify new funding and partnership opportunities to support programmes.
Engage with the broader community and art audiences to ensure DECK’s programmes resonate and contribute meaningfully to artistic and cultural discourse.
Budget & Resource Management:
Develop and manage budgets for each programme, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
Monitor programme expenses, track financial performance, and ensure that programmes are delivered within budget.
Source and manage materials, technical equipment, and staff/volunteer resources for programme delivery.
Evaluation & Impact Assessment:
Evaluate the success and impact of each programme, gathering feedback from artists, participants, and audiences.
Prepare reports on programme outcomes, including metrics such as audience engagement, artist development, and community impact.
Use insights and data to inform future programme development and strategic planning.
On-the-Ground Programme Delivery:
Provide on-the-ground leadership during programme delivery, ensuring smooth operations, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining high standards.
Act as the primary point of contact during events, overseeing all programme logistics and ensuring the safety and success of each activity.
Requirements:
Proven experience in producing and managing creative programmes, events, or exhibitions, preferably in the arts or cultural sector.
Strong creative vision and the ability to ideate and develop engaging, innovative art programmes.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work within strict deadlines.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with artists, curators, partners, and internal teams.
A deep passion for contemporary art, with an understanding of current trends, emerging artists, and cultural movements.
Experience managing budgets and resources efficiently.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and manage issues during programme delivery.
