The Toy Folks is an independent book and toy store in Singapore specialising in quality and curated arts and crafts, educational toys, books and games for kids 0 – 12 years of age. Each item that you find in our store is thoughtfully selected to put a smile on the faces of young ones as they learn, play and grow each day.
Job Description
Hi there! We’re looking for friendly, passionate individuals to join us this festive season (Nov-Dec), and hopefully beyond! If you’re someone who loves kids, books, toys, games, and all things playful, we’d love to meet you.
We’re looking for you, if you:
- Love kids and are enthusiastic about children’s books, toys, and games!
- Have a pleasant and cheerful disposition; are respectful towards others
- Enjoy chatting with people from all walks of life, but mostly kids and parents
- Are able to work independently, are responsible, self-motivated
- Have a positive can-do spirit and take initiative
- Are comfortable with social media – making content comes easily to you (optional, but will be a value-add)
You will be expected to:
- Handle shop operations and cashiering, along with daily opening and closing
- Engage with customers to provide meaningful product recommendations, and build customer relationships
- Do general housekeeping along with upkeep of inventory replenishment and basic visual merchandising
- Receive stock and other administrative duties
- Support online store by fulfilling orders and other duties
- Produce content for our IG! (optional, but will be a value-add)
- Work at least 2-3 days a week – 1 weekday and 2 weekends (at least 1 full day on Saturdays, half days for the other 2 days). You will be required to work on Christmas Eve, and the days leading up to it!
- Commit to retail store opening hours (Full day – 11am-8pm / 11-9pm, Half day – 5 to 6-hour shifts from opening to closing)
- Be based at our shop in Marina Square, but help at Forum The Shopping Mall if needed
