Who We Are

Design Anthology was founded in 2014 as a print magazine dedicated to Asia’s burgeoning design sector. Today, more than a decade on, Design Anthology is a modern multiplatform media brand dedicated to documenting creative culture across Asia Pacific and beyond. Under the leadership of editor-in-chief Jeremy Smart, Design Anthology’s flagship biannual print magazine remains at the heart of our portfolio. Every day we tell stories across an array of digital platforms, host in-person experiences and present industry-leading programmes such as the Design Anthology Awards.

Job Description

Design Anthology is looking for a video editor based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to join our team working across a growing body of architecture and design films in Singapore and across Asia.

Our films focus primarily on homes, documenting the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit. While we hope to inspire and educate our audience, the work remains rooted in something quieter and more enduring — capturing the essence of a space and the intent behind it in a way that lingers and invites viewers to look and feel beyond what is seen.

This role requires a strong sense of storytelling, along with a deep sensitivity to tone, pacing, rhythm, and detail. Beyond technical ability, we are looking for someone who is able to understand and interpret the direction of our films and contribute meaningfully to shaping them. An interest in architecture, interiors, and the cultural context of Asia will be important, as these ideas should naturally reflect in the work.

Role & Responsibilities

You will be primarily responsible for editing long-form architecture and interior design films, centred around homes across Singapore and Asia, alongside supporting short-form content for social platforms. Beyond technical editing, we are looking for someone who can contribute meaningfully to the narrative structure, pacing, and emotional rhythm of each film.

Responsibilities include:

– Editing long-form films from raw footage through to final delivery
– Shaping narrative flow, pacing, and storytelling alongside the director
– Integrating sound design and music thoughtfully to support the atmosphere of each space
– Carrying out colour correction and grading to a consistent standard
– Producing short-form content and reels for social media platforms
– Organising project files and maintaining a clear workflow across productions
– Ensuring all deliverables are prepared, exported, and uploaded accurately and on time
– Occasionally editing promotional or campaign materials related to Design Anthology’s editorial, events, or partnerships

What We Are Looking For

– A strong interest in storytelling and narrative-driven work
– Sensitivity to pacing, tone, rhythm, and intention
– A high level of attention to detail
– A sense of ownership and accountability in your work
– Highly self-motivated, with the ability to review and improve your own output
– Passion and curiosity towards architecture, interiors, culture, and people

Requirements

– Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve
– Understanding of colour correction and basic grading
– Experience in sound editing and music integration

Working Structure

– Based in Johor Bahru
– Remote working, with 1 to 2 in-person meetings per week in Singapore
– Transport to Singapore days will be covered
– You will work closely with the director in shaping each film
– Flexible working arrangement, with clear expectations on delivery

About the Role

This role is for someone who is genuinely interested in narrative and the relationship between space and people. It is not suited for fast, volume-driven editing. You will be part of a small and focused team, working on films that prioritise clarity, intention, and longevity. While we remain aware of trends, the work is grounded in a more thoughtful and lasting approach.
