Your Role
We’re looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented Video Editor to join our growing new media team — a hands-on storyteller who lives and breathes both long-form and short-form video and knows how to cut content that stops the scroll on Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
You’ll work alongside our creatives, producers, and content team to create platform-native content. From smart cuts and motion graphics to sound design and colour, you’ll bring craft to every frame.
This role reports to the Director and Producer, and works closely with the wider new media and video teams.
Responsibilities
Offline Editing & Storytelling
● Edit short-form and long-form content (social experiments, interviews, formats, reels etc.) into compelling narratives.
● Shape story, pacing, and emotional beats to maximise retention and engagement.
● Identify the strongest hooks, moments, and cuts to drive watchability.
Social-First Optimisation
● Edit with platform behaviour in mind across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social channels.
● Craft strong openings (first 3–5 seconds) to capture attention.
● Optimise pacing, subtitles, and visual elements for mobile viewing.
● Adapt and resize content across platforms and aspect ratios while preserving creative intent.
Online Editing & Creative Execution
● Add text overlays, motion graphics, sound design, and music to enhance storytelling.
● Build kinetic typography and simple VFX in After Effects to elevate edits.
● Perform colour correction, grading, and balancing to ensure visual consistency and quality.
● Ensure consistency in style, tone, and branding across all outputs, with particular care for government and cultural institution client guidelines.
● Experiment with different editing styles, formats, and trends.
Collaboration
● Work closely with the Director, Producer, and Content team to align on narrative and intent.
● Take feedback and iterate quickly across multiple rounds of edits.
● Contribute creative input during post-production to elevate the final output.
Workflow & Delivery
● Manage multiple edits across different projects and timelines.
● Ensure timely delivery of drafts and final outputs.
● Maintain organised project files, exports, and version control in line with team workflows.
Required Skills & Qualities
● At least 1–2 years of video editing experience (video production house, in house or content creator) with a portfolio that shows craft and storytelling instincts.
● Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve and After Effects is a plus.
● Experienced editing social-first content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram— and what works on each.
● Basic motion graphics and colour grading knowledge preferred.
● A keen eye for pacing, rhythm, and visual storytelling.
● Good sense of music, sound design, timing, and storytelling.
● Awareness of the sensitivities of working with government and public sector clients.
● Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
● Open to feedback and eager to learn — willing to take direction and iterate.
● A team player who brings positive energy and dependability to fast-paced production environments.
