Epigram Books is an independent publisher based in Singapore, known for putting out well-designed books championing Singapore stories and authors. Our range of books is as broad as it is broad-minded. We publish all manner of fiction—from picture books for children, to chapter books for teenagers, comics for the visual readers, playscripts for theatre-goers, poetry, novels and short story collections for literature lovers. Our recipe books and food guides reflect Singapore’s obsession with food, and increasingly, we are also looking at creative non-fiction, art and photography books.

Marketing and Publicity Duties

Author Support and Events

  • Prize Coordination: Coordinate the extensive logistics and successful execution of the prestigious annual Epigram Books Fiction Prize event.
  • Author Management: Maintain excellent author relationships by managing inquiries, arranging appearances, coordinating book signing sessions, sales conferences to industry partners and supporting authors at book launches and all literary events.
  • Event Coordination: Plan, execute, and budget for all book launches and promotional events for new and backlist titles.Public Relations and Media Strategy

Public Relations and Media Strategy

  • Media Outreach: Manage and execute all Public Relations (PR) activities. This includes:

– Writing and distributing engaging press releases

– Securing print and online coverage and reviews.

– Proactively pitching stories and authors to media outlets, and cultivating strong relationships with journalists and critics.

– Maintaining and strengthening the media contacts and mailing list.

  • Review Management: Manage the distribution of review copies, press releases, and marketing collateral to media, bloggers, and key industry contacts.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Manage communications and represent the publisher with booksellers, stockists, agents, festival managers, and other industry partners.

Campaign, Content, and Partnership Management

  • Campaign Execution: Plan and budget for all marketing campaigns, focusing on channels such as organic social media (and contributing to social media outreach).
  • Partnerships: Identify and execute marketing partnerships and collaborations to expand promotional reach.
  • Collateral Production: Commission, manage, and/or oversee the production of all marketing and publicity materials, including video trailers, social media graphics, book information sheets, and press kits.
  • Financial Administration: Budget for and account for all marketing and PR expenses.

Contract Term

This position begins as a one-year contract, with the possibility of being renewed based on performance and business requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field, such as communications, media, marketing, or public relations.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, or an equivalent field.
  • Deep knowledge of the literary world and its current trends.
    Proficiency in MS Suite and preferably design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Tech and social media savvy with the ability to quickly master platforms like Capcut, Shopify, Omnisend, Facebook, and Instagram.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with charisma and persuasive ability.
  • Highly proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented—a self-starter who consistently exceeds expectations.
  • Driven by the mission of increasing readership and book sales.
  • Thrives on the challenge of executing successful marketing campaigns and events.
  • Dedicated to the details of the work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

  • Ability to start sooner rather than later.
  • Flexibility to commit to required evening and weekend book events.
