About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Editor to join our dynamic team focused on creating and curating high-quality, impactful content for our health and medical digital media channel. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in editorial work and content strategy within the health and medical sector, as well as a strong understanding of digital publishing trends and best practices.
This role requires someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for health awareness, and the ability to manage and guide a team of writers and content creators. The Senior Editor will be responsible for overseeing the editorial direction of our digital publications, ensuring all content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with our mission to educate and inform audiences about health-related issues.
You are responsible for
Editorial Leadership & Content Strategy:
– Develops and implements a cohesive editorial strategy that aligns with the organization’s health awareness goals.
– Leads content planning and creation processes for all digital platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, newsletters, and more.
– Curates and ensures content is medically accurate, well-researched, and accessible to a broad audience.
– Manages editorial calendars and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of all content.
Team Management & Collaboration:
– Supervises and mentors a team of writers, content creators, and freelance contributors.
– Provide feedback on drafts, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, style, and adherence to editorial guidelines.
– Collaborates with the design, marketing, and digital teams to ensure content is optimised for SEO, engagement, and user experience.
Content Development & Quality Assurance:
– Oversees the creation of original content, including articles, reports, infographics, videos, and social media posts.
– Reviews and edits content for clarity, coherence, grammar, and style, ensuring it is suitable for a diverse audience.
– Ensures that content follows ethical standards and regulatory guidelines, particularly in medical and health topics
Content Management Systems & Publishing:
– Oversees content management systems (CMS), ensuring the smooth scheduling, publishing, and updating of articles and multimedia.
– Works with the digital team to maintain an organised and efficient publishing workflow.
Audience Engagement & Growth:
– Analyses content performance using analytics tools and feedback to optimize future editorial strategies and improve audience engagement.
– Stays up-to-date with health trends, emerging topics, and best practices in digital media to ensure our content remains relevant and cutting-edge.
– Drives strategies to grow and engage our online community across various platforms (social media, website, email).
You will need
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in editorial roles, with a strong background in health, wellness, or journalism.
Proven experience in content strategy, editorial planning, and managing a digital publication or media outlet.
Strong understanding of the health and medical fields, including experience covering topics such as public health, nutrition, fitness, mental health, or medical research.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor writers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Expertise in using digital publishing tools and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, etc.).
Familiarity with SEO, social media strategies, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush, etc.) to drive content performance.
Ability to synthesize complex medical information into clear, reader-friendly language for a general audience.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Health, Medical Writing, or a related field.
You will have an edge over other candidates with
Experience working with healthcare professionals (doctors, researchers, allied professionals) to produce authoritative content.
Experience in multimedia content creation, such as video editing, podcasts, and interactive web content.
Knowledge of emerging trends in digital media, such as AI-driven content tools, interactive health tools, or virtual health communities.
Familiarity with healthcare marketing, influencer collaborations, and digital storytelling in health communications. A passion for health literacy and making complex medical information accessible to a broad audience.
