Job Description
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Contract Type: Fixed Contract/Freelance
Contract Period: 6 Months
Reports To: Executive Producer
Salary Range: SGD X,XXX – SGD X,XXX
We are Motion: For Impact, an experiential agency that moves brands and people—their stakeholders and communities—into action. We do this by designing how they feel.
Founded in Singapore, we are a team of highly performing creatives, planners, strategists, project managers, designers, writers, and makers. For over 20 years, we have designed human-led experiences—corporate conferences, brand activations, immersive installations, and multi-sensorial environments—that move people and businesses into action.
We work across three pillars: Content and Communications, Events and Spaces, and People and Culture. Our work spans the full experience lifecycle: from strategic concept and creative platform through to spatial direction, content production, and live activation. In simple terms, we create experiences for impact.
We are now entering a new phase of growth, and are looking for individuals with the right skillset, mindset and heartset to perform with us to produce work that will move people into action.
The Role
The Creative Director is Motion’s senior creative authority, the person who sets the concept, directs the execution, and holds the creative vision together from pitch to floor. You translate client objectives into experiences that can be built, activated, and felt—directing across spatial design, content, visual, and sensorial detail simultaneously. You are the creative through-line that keeps the work coherent when strategy, production timelines, and client expectations are all in play.
You will own the pitch. You will own the concept. You will own the room.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, you will partner with team leads, production, and our ecosystem of creative partners to deliver work that drives real business results.
Key Responsibilities
● Creative Direction & Strategy
○ Unpack and research a brief, then set and own the creative vision across Motion’s work—establishing the core idea, the experience narrative, and the creative platform that guides all downstream decisions
○ Develop creative strategy that brings sensory intelligence to life, from conceptualisation to activation
○ Lead ideation and concepting on key client briefs, pitches, and proposals, ensuring ideas are distinctive, commercially viable and aligned to business objectives
○ Manage end to end the experience journey and storytelling, and be able to sell this internally and externally
○ Champion innovative solutions to solve client challenges—no matter the format—to push creative boundaries and inspire clients and team members
● Client & Commercial Engagement
○ Partner with the Executive Producer and account leads to develop compelling creative responses to client briefs across diverse formats and industries
○ Translate complex client challenges into clear, compelling creative platforms that are both inspiring and commercially viable
○ Lead or co-lead creative presentations and pitches: build the narrative, own the room, and hold the high quality of conversation at every client touchpoint
○ Identify and flag creative-commercial gaps: where briefs are underspecified, budgets are misaligned, or scope risks quality
● Craft, Production & Quality
○ Maintain final creative accountability across all projects, ensuring voice, aesthetics, and concept integrity are preserved from brief to delivery
○ Storyboard, sketch, direct, and where appropriate, produce creative outputs across relevant disciplines
○ Resource creative production intelligently, knowing when to build in-house versus bring in specialist external talent
○ Deliver on time and on budget, without sacrificing the standard that defines Motion’s work
● Team, Talent & Culture
○ Inspire, guide and raise the creative output of Motion’s team, providing clear direction, honest feedback, and genuine mentorship
○ Foster a creative environment where experimentation is encouraged and craft is respected
○ Build and steward relationships with external creative talent, studios and partners, expanding Motion’s creative network internationally and across disciplines
Requirements
Skillset
● You have at least 10 years of experience in creative leadership: agency, production, or a hybrid creative-strategy context
● You have a strong portfolio of work across brand activations, live events, spatial environments, and content—built across multiple formats and industries
● You can read a brief for what it’s really asking and turn an ambiguous objective into a clear creative direction, whether you’re talking to a junior designer or a client’s senior leadership
● You have design and storytelling sensibility, with the ability to turn creative concepts into powerful communications
● You have the ability to articulate a clear vision, with superior writing and communication skills across formats: presentations, proposals, scripts, briefs
● You are familiar with technology and production trends; comfort directing across digital and physical mediums
● You are able to scope, resource, and cost creative work realistically
Mindset
● You read culture closely, you know what’s resonating and how to bring that into the work without chasing trends
● You lead with judgment, not ego: you know what great looks and feels like, and you can explain why
● You adapt quickly when priorities shift or briefs evolve, without losing creative direction
● You define the structure in a lean, fast-moving environment; you don’t wait for it
● You are at ease in a fast paced environment

● You are a collaborative, consultative team player with enthusiasm, passion and drive
● You are motivated by impact, not just output: you think about what the work does and how it moves people
Heartset
● You lead with care: for people, for projects, and for the craft
● You are able to build effective relationships, able to understand and respond to the agenda of others and are able to help unlock future client opportunities
● You are honest, direct, and generous with your thinking
● You hold the creative standard under pressure without losing perspective
● You are a champion of high quality outcomes and build environments where the bar is high yet people feel supported in reaching it
