Senior Video Journalist
Job Description
The Senior Video Journalist will create custom content for Our Grandfather Story’s verticals and related social platforms. We’re seeking a creative-minded producer who is passionate about both digital media and native advertising. Candidates should be interested in what makes someone share and how people communicate online.
The ideal candidate is interested in learning every part of the creative process: generating ideas for a variety of formats, shooting, editing and publishing. Candidates should also be proactive workers who are motivated and independent.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and feedback to the team, offering support to the team lead. (i.e. mentoring junior video journalist in script and edit reviews; guiding interns in their development)
- Actively participate in the ideation and review of branded pitches, ensuring they align with the brand’s vision and objectives. (i.e. working on branded pitches with microdoc lead and content strategist)
- Research and pitch fresh and relevant content ideas and video concepts for OGS’s social media pages.
- Produce, direct, and shoot videos ranging from documentaries to interview talk shows and hosted shows.
- Work closely with video editors to shape and refine the video in post-production.
- Regularly measure and distill progress results to apply data-driven insights to future content strategies.
- Conceptualize and execute content ideas for branded campaigns.
- Manage uploads through our Facebook and YouTube publishing processes.
- Develop amplification strategies and ideas to maximise existing content for optimal distribution on different channels.
- Write social copies and generate social assets for publication.
Requirements:
- Experience with camera handling & lighting setups
- Prior experience in video editing is a plus
- Interest in telling local stories, documentaries and explainers
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Team player with a positive attitude and good work ethic
