Job Description

Tang Contemporary Art provides an internship opportunity for individuals to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of gallery operations while supporting the gallery staff. Interns can expect to assist with a range of tasks and may have the chance to focus on specific areas of interest. Below is a job description outlining the key responsibilities and qualifications for the gallery internship:

 

  • Assist with the preparation, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions.
  • Help organize and catalog artworks, ensuring proper documentation and presentation.
  • Assist in maintaining gallery cleanliness and aesthetics.
  • Greet visitors and provide information about artworks and exhibitions.
  • Support guided tours or walkthroughs of the gallery.
  • Aid in managing visitor flow and ensuring a positive gallery experience.
  • Assist in maintaining records of exhibitions, including artwork lists and exhibition schedules.
  • Help update databases and inventory systems with new artworks and sales information.
  • Manage the gallery’s social media channels, creating content to promote events and exhibitions.
  • Assist with organizing and executing gallery events, such as openings, artist talks, and workshops.
  • Help manage event logistics, including setup, takedown, and customer service.

 

Qualifications:
Educational Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in fine arts, art history, museum studies, or a related field.
Passion for Art: Strong interest in art and the gallery’s mission and vision.
Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and with attention to detail.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage with visitors and artists.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with standard office software and social media platforms.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain positive relationships with staff and visitors.
Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing tasks and priorities as needed.
