Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant curator will work closely with the Director and line-manage key members of the gallery’s team (comprising P/T Artist Manager, P/T Sales & Collections Manager). He/she will be responsible for exhibition management and administration, and strategic management and partnerships.

-Tap on extensive network of contacts and artists to identify new and interesting artists and works for exhibitions
-Provide support to the curator, from the research and development stage of exhibition through to its realisation
-Liaise with administration, content and communications staff as necessary to facilitate clear communication and delivery of projects
-Engaged with collectors to explore potential art sales.

-Prepare documentation for the exhibitions, project, and events.
-Deal with routine enquiries and maintain databases of artists and artwork information

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Certification

-Degree in Art History, Theory or Practice.
-A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a responsible role in the contemporary arts sector.
-Ability to demonstrate that you have strong management experience within a publically funded contemporary art institution.
-Experience of working closely with artists to achieve new work.
-Practical knowledge and proof of successful fundraising and development experience within the public or private gallery sector.
-Excellent administrative skills and be computer literate.
